Alex Wilkinson
Non-Executive Chairman

With over 25 years experience in the wholesale financial services industry, Alex has a clear understanding of the importance and impact of technology on this sector. As Global Head, Listed Products Group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein Alex was an influential figure in the introduction of electronic trading into the FX, fixed income and exchange traded products markets and gained considerable experience in the implementation of new technologies across large scale capital markets operations. Alex also has considerable experience in the building of earlier stage technology companies having participated on the boards of several dot-com companies. Alex is a leading advocate of technology and its use in enhancing the competitiveness of trading operations and is a regular commentator in financial media on technical and regulatory issues arising from the electrification of the markets.

Michael Paull
Chief Executive Officer
Board of Directors, Hat Trick Software Limited

Michael has a deep understanding of the complexities of the wholesale financial services industry with nearly two decades experience managing trading teams at Bank of America, Security Pacific, Citibank and UBS Limited.

Michael also has almost ten years experience is establishing and growing early stage companies. In 1996 he was a founder director at Canada Underwriting Limited which delivered 30% annual returns in the first two years of operation. In 1998 he became Managing Director and Board Member Instinet (Europe) Limited where he helped lead the development of the Instinet fixed income project and assisted building the team supporting this project to in excess of 150 employees globally.

In 2001 Michael became the founder CEO of the Enigmatec Corporation Limited where he lead this company through its first two funding rounds and oversaw the earlier stage development of Enigmatec's award winning solution, the Execution Management System.

In November 2004, Michael became the founder CEO of Hat Trick Software Limited where he was joined by his co-founders from Enigmatec, Steve Ross-Talbot and Dr Gary Brown.

Stephen Ross-Talbot
Chief Technology Officer

Steve is recognised as one of the technology industries visionaries with extensive experience in delivering solutions into the wholesale financial services sector.

Steve was one of the technical architects on the highly acclaimed Hoodini Project at Nomura International between 1994 and 1997. In 1997 he founded the Java messaging vendor, SpiritSoft Limited where he worked with Michael Paull on the Instinet fixed income project. In May 2002 he joined Michael Paull as a founding team member and Chief Scientist at the Enigmatec Corporation. In January 2003, whilst at Enigmatec, he became Co-Chair of the W3C Choreography Working Group and was instrumental in delivering the WS-CDL standard in December 2004. In 2004 he also became the Chair of the W3C Web Services Coordination Working Group overseeing all Web Services standards at W3C.

In April 2005 he co-founded the open source company Pi4Technologies Limited which subsequently became the Pi4Technologies Foundation. In September 2005 he joined Hat Trick Software Limited as the founder CTO.

Dr Gary Brown
Head of Architecture

Dr Gary Brown is a recognised industry specialist in distributed computing. In 1995 to 1997 Gary worked with Steve Ross-Talbot on the Hoodini Project and in 1997 he co-founder the Java messaging vendor, SpiritSoft Limited along with Steve Ross-Talbot.

In May 2002 Gary joined Michael Paull as part of the foundation team at the Enigmatec Corporation where he became Head of Advanced Research. Whilst at Enigmatec, Gary was instrumental in delivering Enigmatec’s highly acclaimed and award winning flagship solution, the Execution Management System.

In April 2005, Gary co-founded the Pi4Technologies Foundation along with Steve Ross-Talbot and led the design and build of the open source run-time and tool suite underpinning the ClearGate™ and E-VentFlo™ solutions. In September 2005 Gary become a founder of Hat Trick Software Limited, where he is Head of Architecture.

Dr Said Tabet
Head of the US

Dr Said Tabet is recognised as one of the world's leading experts on distributed rules technologies, is a leading advocate of the use of standards in the IT industry and is instrumental in promoting collaboration between standards bodies.

Dr Tabet is internationally recognised for his work on Art*Enterprise which became the foundation technology for both the CLIPS and JESS rules engines. In August 2000 he co-founded The RuleML Initiative with Dr Harold Boley (www.RuleML.org) to provide a platform for the standardisation of business rules. He continues to Co-Chair the RuleML Initiative today.

Additionally Dr Tabet is the Co-Chairman of the OMG Regulatory Compliance Group where he works closely with a large number of wholesale financial services sector companies in the development and promotion of IT standards supporting “best practice” in the governance, risk and compliance area: Co-Chairs the OASIS Policy RuleML Technical Committee and serves as an invited expert on a number of W3C working groups.

From 2000 to 2002 Dr Tabet was Chief Scientist at Nisus Incorporated and prior to this was the Principal Knowledge Engineer at MindBox Incorporated.

Dr Tabet co-authored SWRL the Semantic Web Rule Language that combines OWL and RuleML, and is regularly invited as a key note speaker at various international conferences.

Dr Martin Redington
Lead Engineer

After completing his PhD at the University of Oxford, Dr Redington joined Salomon Brothers International Limited in 1997 where he worked on core reference data systems and on the conversion engine for the re-denomination of European securities into Euro, for “Le Weekend”.

In 1999 Dr Redington joined beenz.com where he became Vice President for Systems Architecture and Security with responsibility for all aspects of the production system, as well as database management and development.

Since leaving beenz.com Dr Redington worked as a freelance consultant on a number of large scale projects including broadband provisioning, mobile gambling applications and compliance and tracking systems.

Neil Forrester
Lead Engineer

Neil Forrester has over ten years experience in application design and delivery with much of this experience focusing on behavioural monitoring and modelling.

Neil was a foundation team member at beenz.com where he subsequently became Head of Product Design and Development. In this role he worked closely with Dr Redington on various methods of distributing the beenz currency as well as developing administration and support interfaces for controlling the beenz infrastructure across a number of countries and languages. Beenz.com grew to be a company of 300+ employees supporting 3 million+ users worldwide.

Prior to beenz.com, Neil was the Technical Director at Thought Interactive where he led the build of multiple online applications for a range of clients including BT, the DMA, and NACAB.

Neil is currently completing his Post Doctoral Research at the Birkbeck College London.
